Essence of Mind

"Sins arise from the mind; repent with the mind. When the mind is extinguished, the sins also cease. When the mind is extinguished and the sins cease, both are empty. This is called true repentance."
These four verses describe the practice process from the generation stage to the completion stage.
These four verses mention key words such as "sin", "repentance", "true emptiness", and "wonderful use".
Sin is the cause of our own karmic cycle of rebirth, our karmic obstacles. It is also the habitual tendencies formed by our karmic realms, which form the three types of karmic relationships: good, evil, and pure. Therefore, "sin" doesn't just refer to evil; good is also sin, and all of these things can lead to suffering.
The "good" and "evil" of our actions are not measured by ourselves, but by our seventh consciousness, the discriminating consciousness. Doing too much evil will stimulate the seeds of negative karma within the alaya consciousness. Similarly, forming certain habits will also stimulate the same habit seeds in the alaya consciousness, causing them to take effect instantly. This process is the luring of the mind.
